Title: Simulation of Induction Motor Shaft Positioning System with Magnetorheological Brake

Text: The paper presents results of simulation tests of induction motor's shaft positioning system with magnetorheological (MR) brake. Experimental setup (shown in Fig. 1) was used to determine mathematical model of control system and to verify results of simulation tests. Control system consists of induction motor (5) connected to MR brake (3) with the help of coupling (4). Brake is used as a device that dissipates energy during velocity deceleration. Incremental encoder (6) measures the position of shaft. Additional inertia load (1) is connected to shaft. Rotation velocity control system and position control algorithm are described.
