Title: Parameters Determination of an Electric Circuit in MS Excel
Author(s): ORSÁG, Petr & SLAVÍK, Petr
Text: This contribution describes a MS Excel program application for parameters determination of an electric circuit in steady state and time waveform measurement of electric quantities (voltage and current). The parameters of the serial (resistance, inductance, inverse capacitance) or parallel (conductance, capacitance, inverse inductance) circuit model are computed over a time period T of measured voltage and current waveforms by means of procedures written in Visual Basic for Application. The computed parameters are constant coefficients of an integro-differential equation of the model circuit. Wide-spread MS Excel environment is used for processing and visualization of time waveforms and results. The measured voltage and current are acquired by means of the digitizing oscilloscope TDS 420 from Tektronix and transfered from it to PC via GPIB interface. For the determination of the circuit parameters is used a new method created at the Department of Theoretical Electrotechnics of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the VSB-TU Ostrava. The one, contrary to the standard method (Fourier series), evaluates all three circuit parameters and gives correct values of the powers (apparent, active, reactive power) under nonsinusoidal conditions. Moreover, the one is suitable for study of the electromagnetic phenomena of the measured circuit. This work is supported by the RVŠ Agency under the grant No 1738/2003.
